How the company started
Sesibe was set up in 2013 in Nottingham by a small group of IT support engineers who kept getting the same call from local business owners: something had gone wrong with their systems, and nobody had checked the basics beforehand. Back then, most cybersecurity work in the region was aimed at large organisations with dedicated IT departments. Small shops, trades businesses and local offices were left to work it out on their own, often after a problem had already happened.
The company began with a short list of practical services — network checks, basic firewall setup, staff guidance on phishing emails — offered specifically to businesses with under 50 staff. Thirteen years later, the list has grown to 11 services, but the focus on smaller, independent businesses in and around Nottingham has not changed.
Mission and outlook
Our mission is straightforward: give small businesses in Nottingham the same level of technical protection that larger companies expect, without requiring them to hire a full-time IT security specialist. Many of our clients have five, ten or twenty employees. They need working systems, clear advice and a fast response when something looks wrong — not a lengthy audit report that sits unread.
Looking ahead, we do not plan to expand into new territories or offer services outside our core area of security. Staying within one district lets the 15 people on our team know the local business environment closely, from the types of premises common on Mansfield Road and around the city centre to the software most small retailers and trades firms already use.
